Moses - The Serpent & Salvation

Jan 25, 2026    Pastor Joshua Hanson

Why would God use the very thing that's killing us to heal us? In Numbers 21, God commanded Moses to lift up a bronze serpent—the symbol of their sin and death—so that anyone bitten could look and live. Bizarre? Absolutely. But 1,500 years later, Jesus revealed the stunning truth: "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up."

Jesus became sin for us. He became the serpent on the pole so that when we look to Him—and Him alone—we find healing from our deepest sickness: our insatiable discontent and spiritual poison. The cure isn't more stuff, better circumstances, or different people. It's looking to the One who was lifted up on a cross.

What Adam and Eve never had in paradise, we have now: a Savior who sacrificed everything. And when you truly grasp His impossible love, you'll finally stop wanting more. You'll want Him.
